Known to the world as Team Blue the Indian Cricket Team is the pride of India.
The Indian national cricket is primarily governed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) which is a prestigious firm and it provides all the necessary privileges and requirements for the benefit of the team. Primarily cricket was introduced in our country by the European Merchants for the first time in Calcutta in 1792. But the entire development process of the Indian cricket took much more time than anticipated and the team played its first match on 25th June in 1932. The team India was eventually weak team maybe because of the lack of fine players or professional who did not take the sport seriously but gradually it became popular.
The Indian Cricket gained its worth and name slowly under the leadership of many sufficient captains who led the entire team to a new level of achievement. Some of the notable figures among them are Sunil Gavaskar, Gundappa Viswanath, Kapil Dev and many more. All these players play a very significant role in elevating the status of the Indian cricket team from nothing to something. Winning matches abroad has significantly improved for the team during the 21st century when it started winning matches in Australia, England and even South Africa. It is under the captainship of Kapil Dev that India got its first world cup in the year 1983. Not only that, after winning the world cup in 2011 under the captainship of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Team Blue has become the Third team to win the series of World cup for more than two times. And luckily the second time the final match was held in India only.
The team has divided its captainship for the different series of matches. Presently Virat Kohli plays as the Captain for the team whenever it plays Test matches while Dhoni Macy as the captain during the matches of ODI and Twenty20. The political feud with Pakistan has also not spared the sports field of both the countries. Both Team India and Pakistan are arch enemies of each other even in the match field. There is absolute no doubt that the British brought cricket in our country and thus the entire Parsi community encouraged this sport by setting up the Oriental Cricket Club in Bombay during 1848 which was the first cricket club organized by Indians. Usually upcoming matches for the Team India is set up and fixed under the guidance of International Cricket Council which is responsible for the entire organization with the help of tours and events to Australia, Pakistan, and England. Although there have been feuds between the ICC and the BCCI regarding the sponsorship and legitimacy of the ICC, in the end both work together to bring the entire country under one roof.
