Sania Mirza scored the title of being the number one in both singles and doubles by the Women’s Tennis Association till she retired from the singles in the year 2003. She is the only successful female tennis player from India and is also highly paid for her talent in the country. Her singles career faced a lot of ups and downs but somehow she managed to bag many titles by defeating Svetlana Kuznetsova and Marion Bartoli and even Vera Zvonareva. She alos holds the record of being the highest ranked female player from India gaining the title of becoming world number 27 during mid-2007.
However she suffered from a sever wrist injury which did not support her to continue her Singles matches. But she did not entirely gave up her career and passion, instead she focused on playing the doubles games and therefore attained the rank of becoming number one in that criteria. She won the WTA finals in 2015 by partnering with Martina Hingis in the women’s doubles. She is holder of about 14 medals among which six are of gold by participating in different events like the Asian, Commonwealth and the Afro-Asian Games. Her season of 2015 began with the rank of being number 6th in the doubles rankings which was later taken up to number one by the end of the year. She partnered with Hsieh Su-wei from Taipei in China and started her season with the Brisbane International of 2015. But unfortunately the match was a loss and they could only reach the semifinals. After that she got paired up with Bethanie Mattek Sands from America for the game of Apia International and won the tournament gaining her 23rd career title.
Sania was also able to reach the Qatar Ladies Open 2015 finals but tactlessly lost to Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears. After that she got paired up with the legendary Swiss tennis player Martina Hingis and they won the Indian Wells tournament as a debut pair. They were so efficient together that they did not lose more than 4 set in their entire game. The duo of Mirza and Hingis also won the Miami Open of 2015. They were able to win each and every set in this tournament till the finals and made a set score of 20-0. The new partnership of the duo did create wonders for them both as they became an invincible pair. They were also able to win the Family Circle Cup of 2015 by defeating Casey Dellacqua and Darija Jurak. By winning this title she beamce the first Indian women to gain the rank of being number one in Women’s Doubles Tennis. Her last match was the WTA 2015 which she conquered as well.
