Martina Hingis has spent about 209 weeks as the top player in the charts right now for women’s tennis. She is also ranked the Number one in Double too by the WTA association. Winning a total of Five Grand Slams namely three Australian Opens, one Wimbledon, and one US Open has made her invincible in the world of tennis for women. She also holds the record of winning twelve Grand Slam Women’s Doubles Title and about twenty one major titles. And not only has that she also won the WTA Championship two times in Singles and three times in doubles. The most recent match of Hingis took place in Brisbane where she partnered with Sabine Lisicki and as usual was successful in beating Caroline Garcia and Katarina Srebotnik.
The Australian Open of 2015 was played by Hingis along with Flavia Pennetta who was her partner. She lost unfortunately in the last round but was able to win the mixed doubles when she got paired up Leander Peas. Her luck and partnership with Pennetta did not favour her that much in the Dubai Tennis Championship and the Qatar Ladies Open and therefore she switched and got Sania Mirza as her partner which resulted in winning of back to back titles in about two of the WTA Premier events namely the BNP Paribas Cup of 2015 and Miami Open 2015. She also bagged the trophy of Family Circle Cup 2015.
She made a rough comeback after a lot of 17 years in the Fed Cup match and opted for playing doubles match only. The pair of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis was unvanquished again in the Women’s Doubles match of Wimbledon by defeating Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina. She repeated the success in mixed doubles also by partnering with Leander Peas and devastating Alexander Peya and Timea Babos in straight matches. She even won the US Open mixed doubles with the equal effort from her partner Leander Peas and also bagged the trophy of the Women’s Singles match by partnering with Sania Mirza.
The start of the year of 2016 Hingis and Sania Mirza won their matches in the cities of Brisbane and Sydney, the last match of them that is the Doubles of the Australian Open 2016 was also won by defeating Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka. But unfortunately she along with Leander Peas had lost to Sania Mirza and Ivan Dodig in the mixed doubles final match. This was the last match that was played by her and her partners in the Australian open. Yet there are many more such matches to come which would enlighten her winning goals once again and take her to the top charts of the tennis world.
